Advanced Placement (AP)
Advanced Placement classes offer students a chance to do advanced subject work while in high school to earn college credit. After completing the class, students take a final AP Exam in May. AP Exams are scored from 1-5; generally, a score of 3 or higher qualifies the student for of college credit. AP Credit is accepted differently at various colleges and universities. More information about AP Scores can be found here. There is a testing fee for each test taken. Students taking AP courses are not required to take the AP test at the end of the year. Failing scores on an AP test will not appear on college transcripts unlike failed CE Courses. |
Concurrent Enrollment (CE)
Concurrent Enrollment classes offered at MMHS allow students to register for classes through Utah Valley University (UVU) and earn college credit by successfully completing the course. Students must take the ACT or Accuplacer/ALEKS test before enrolling in CE English or Math. CE classes cannot be dropped after the college withdrawal deadline. If a student decides not to finish a class after the deadline, a failing grade will be recorded on their college transcript. CE credit is not automatic, you must meet the requirements and pass the course. UVU requires a one-time admission fee of $35 plus $5 fee per college credit hour for all CE classes. |
